Privacy policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This English version is a translation of our French privacy policy, Politique de confidentialité. If the two ever differ, the French version prevails. The EMINI app itself is in French for now, so the names of its buttons are given in French, with an English translation.
EMINI is a Bible app for spiritual growth, led by the Ministère des Élites pour Christ. We respect your privacy and limit data collection to what the app strictly needs in order to work. Technology serves the Word — never the other way around.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the Ministère des Élites pour Christ, Ouidah, Benin. For any question about your data: contact@eminibible.com.
Data we process
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Account: your email address and your name (through email sign-up or Google sign-in), to identify your account and sync your data.
- Personal content: favorites, notes, highlights, prayers, reading progress, and the circles you create or join.
- Profile photo (if you choose one): cropped and reduced on your phone before it is sent, kept with your account, visible to you alone. You can remove it at any time; it is deleted with your account.
- Device identifier: an anonymous technical identifier, to link your data before you sign in.
- On your phone only: the editions of LA MANNE you have read to the end (to mark them with a dot in the week view) and your conversations with Selah. They are never sent to us.
- Reminders: if you turn on notifications, a technical token specific to your phone, used to send you the morning LA MANNE and the verse of the day. It says nothing about you.
- Usage statistics: technical events from a closed list (the app is opened, a chapter is displayed, an audio playback fails…), how long the app stays open, the your connection type (“4g,” “2g”), and the number of notifications sent and opened. This helps us see what is slow or broken. No location data, and nothing about your mobile carrier.
- Internet address: like any website, our server sees your device’s internet address. It keeps it in memory for ten minutes at most, to curb abuse (too many requests at once), and never records it.
Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google, we receive only your email address,
your name, and your profile picture (under the basic permissions
email, profile, openid). We do not access any other data in your Google account
(no Gmail, no Drive, no contacts).
Selah, the assistant
The text of the questions you ask the assistant is sent to an artificial intelligence provider to produce the answer. It is not linked to any account or device identifier, and it is not stored in any of our databases. Also sent are the last few messages of the current conversation and the text of the verse you are studying — in the Louis Segond 1910 version, which is in the public domain — so that the answer is grounded in the correct text and makes none up.
This provider is a specialized service located outside the European Union. We only choose providers that receive the question without any identifier and that do not keep it for more than 30 days.
Never sent: your notes, your prayers, your highlights, your favorites, or the text of licensed versions (Segond 21, NEG 1979), which their publisher does not authorize for this use.
Your conversations with Selah stay on your phone, on none of our servers: deleting your account therefore does not erase them. You erase them from “Plus” → “Effacer toutes mes conversations” (“More” → “Delete all my conversations”).
Why, and on what basis
This data is used only to create and secure your account, save and sync your personal content, and enable the community features you choose (reading circles). Each use rests on a specific basis:
- Your account (email, name, device identifier, sign-in token): necessary to provide the service you ask for.
- Your notes, prayers, highlights, and favorites: they can reveal your religious beliefs, which the law gives special protection. We only process them with your explicit consent: you are the one who writes them, and nothing is saved without that action. You withdraw your consent by deleting them, one by one or together with your account.
- Plans, circles, “Amen,” and comments: your consent, given by using these features.
- Notifications: your consent, given through your phone’s permission; you can withdraw it at any time in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Usage statistics, backups, and protection against abuse (internet address): our legitimate interest in running the app and protecting your data against loss. You can object by writing to us.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not share your data for advertising purposes.
- We do not use your data for commercial profiling.
Hosting
Your data is stored securely with our infrastructure providers (Supabase for the PostgreSQL database, Railway for the server), hosted in Amsterdam, the Netherlands: your personal content — notes, prayers, highlights, favorites — does not leave the European Union. All connections use HTTPS.
A few services located outside Europe are involved, and only for what concerns them: Google (your email and name if you sign in with Google); the notification service of your phone or browser (your notification token); Resend (sending a welcome email); and Selah’s artificial intelligence provider (the question asked, without an identifier). None of them receives your notes, your prayers, or your highlights.
These transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for by European regulation: the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your data
- Your account and your personal content (favorites, notes, highlights, prayers, plans, circles, profile photo): until you delete your account. We do not delete them on our own initiative.
- Usage statistics: 90 days, then automatic daily deletion.
- Encrypted backups of the database: 30 days, then automatic deletion.
- Sign-in token: 90 days, after which you need to sign in again.
- Notification subscription: until you turn notifications off, or delete your account.
- Your conversations with Selah: on your phone, until you erase them.
Your rights
At any time, you can request access to your data, its correction, its deletion, its portability (a copy in a readable format), the restriction of its processing, or object to usage statistics, by writing to the address below. You can also withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before. Deleting your account erases the personal content linked to it. We reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the data protection authority of your country — for example, the APDP in Benin, the CNIL in France, or the FDPIC in Switzerland.
EMINI is intended for people 13 years of age and older.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all the data linked to it at any time, from the app (the Plus tab, “More”) or without the app, by following the steps described here: delete my account. Deletion is permanent. Only our encrypted backups keep a trace of it, and they delete themselves within 30 days.
